BMW E39 Rear Bumper Replacement

e39-rear bumper replacement-1e39-rear bumper replacement-2e39-rear bumper replacement-3e39-rear bumper replacement-4

The wheel arch liners from both sides need unclipping and moving to one side to reveal the inside of the rear bumper. For versions with park distance control, the connector needs to be unplugged and removed for better access as shown in pic 2.

Pic 3 shows the main bolts inside the boot of the E39 which need removal for the rear bumper to come off. When fitting the replacement bumper back on, adjustments will be needed to line it properly so it’s best to keep the bolts slightly loose and only tighten fully once the bumper is nicely lined up.
