Mercedes gave us the Diesel Luxury Saloon in the form of the S Class 320 CDi but BMW is setting new standards with the introduction of its 6 Series Coupe with a 3.0 Litre Twin Turbo diesel engine.
This BMW 3.0 Twin Turbo Diesel engine has been on the scene for over 5 years and its surprising that BMW decided to hold plans for it introduction in the 6 Series coupe for as long as it did. One possible reason for this delay is the high sale figures for the powerful petrol engines starting from the 3.0 petrol variant but with the fuel prices climbing, the economical diesel engine with a combined mpg of 41 is sure to be a highly welcomed introduction and is thought to account for over 70% of UK sales for the 6 Series coupe.
The 6 Series comes with all the features we have come to know as standard from a quality maker. Paddle shift gearbox, leather trim, metallic paint, xenon lights, lane departure warning, 6 air bags etc. and 0 – 60mph in just over 6 seconds is just a few features to lure in the customer looking for a stylish, quality, luxurious yet economical sports car.
