The RC Z By Peugeot, TT anyone?

Seems like Peugeot just couldn’t resist the Audi TT’s charms and decided to launch their own TT Look-alike in the form of the new concept car the Peugeot RC Z. Not sure why Peugeot thought that the introduction of a small kink to disrupt the streamlined body will fool everyone into believing this as an original idea though.

The back end and the roof are quite inspiring especially the fold in the roof giving it a futuristic sort of look and feel. The front end, however, looks like it’s been borrowed from the standard 306 which is a setback. The interior also doesn’t look very expensive and has an MPV feel to it.

I personally don’t understand the logic behind Peugeot jumping into this sector of the market which is already saturated with cars like the Audi TT, and others offering nothing more than the cramped leg room at the back and a performance you don’t feel like writing home about.

Anticipated start price for the Peugeot RC Z is £18k for the UK market with 218 BHP being squeezed from a 1.6 Turbo engine. Peugeot’s gamble may not pay off as more and more customers look towards the bigger, roomier 4 x 4 market rather than the cramped 2+2 mini coupes.

This model is actually called the ‘Peugeot 308 RC Z’. The 308 is a similar look to the 307 and as we all know the predecessor of the 307 is of course the 306, which explains the similarity in appearance from the front end. Remember sometimes people dont like a change.

With the newer and more modern cars from Peugeot looking instantly ugly then theres no wonder why people want to stay in the 20th century when it comes to exterior design.

When it comes to the inside however there is a difference from the standard 308 in the sense that everything is a lot lower down and harder to reach, the back is no problem, it provides plenty of space for back seat passengers unless of course you happen to be over 7 foot tall.
